In Historic Chappell Hill Texas~

The farm was started in 2003.  The McDowell's had no intention of growing lavender when they moved to the farm from Houston, but later decided that they wanted to make use of the rolling hill that cascades down to the pond.  They began their adventure with just 20 plants to see how they would adapt to the Texas climate.  Those plants did well so they began planting the fields in groups of 600 per season.  They have had their challenges with the humidity and rainfall but the rewards far outway the problems.  The farm has 23 rolling acres, 3-4 of which are dedicated to growing lavender.  There are two primary varieties grown with the two blooming seasons.  Most of the products in the gift shop are handmade here on the farm.  Many local craftspeople also sell their wares in the gift shop.  Recently, fruit trees and blackberries were added to the fields so that visitors could pick when the fruit is ripe.

Our address is 2250 Dillard Road, Brenham TX 77833.

We're about half way between Austin and Houston. Take the Chappell Hill exit (east of Brenham) and follow FM 1155 north, through Chappell Hill. There's a bend in the road where it meets 2193; turn right, then look for Dillard Road. Turn left onto Dillard and the Farm is on the right.
